Studium Chorale

Studium Chorale is active as professional chamber choir since 2005. The productions are led by artistic leader Hans Leenders or specialized guest conductors. The choir is founded in 1972 and developed itself in the last years as one of the most important chamber choir in the Netherlands.

The line up of Studium Chorale variates between eight and fourty singers, depending on which pieces are sung. The singers are coming from the Netherlands, Flanders and Germany. The very versatile contains five ages of choir culture, from pieces from the Renaissance till the latest works made. The choir did several world premieres from compositions of Henry Delnooz, Jean Lambrechts, Ton de Leeuw, Jo van den Booren, Lowell Dijkstra, Jeanne Demessieux, Daan Manneke, Roderik de Man, Marijn Simons, Hans Leenders and Margreeth de Jong.

Studium Chorale regularly works with orchestras and ensembles such as Ensemble 88, Florilegium Musicum and the Limburg Symphony Orchestra, and numerous soloists. The ensemble was recently led by Ed Spanjaard, Steffen Schreyer, Erik Van Nevel and Andrew Parrott.
Studium Chorale is a regular guest at home and abroad and maintaned several radio and television recordings. The choir's cultural establishment plan 2009-2012 of the Province of Limburg and the Municipality of Maastricht and is supported by the Fund for the Performing Arts.
