1993 the Belgian pianist Jozef de Beenhouwer won the Robert Schumann Price at Zwickau, Germany, the city of birth of Robert Schumann. This price is only preserved for the biggest interpreters of Schumann's music, such as Dietrich Fischer-Diskau, Wolfgang Sawallisch and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Jozef de Beenhouwer is the only Belgian musician who ever received this price.
We recorded a CD with Jozef de Beenhouwer and have noted his price on the cover of that CD. On it we have a première too: the Variations on a Theme of Frédéric Chopin by Schumann.
